City Sightseeing Bus Tour in Cape Town with kids

What a great way to spend our Sunday! I had all 3 my children and grandson with me for a fun day on the City Sightseeing Bus. We took the 1st blue bus at 9:00 from the Waterfont, so that we could have more time at the stops we all decided on. It was a cold wind but with so much to see and hear during the ride you actually forget to get cold. The brave sit out in the open and the not so brave sit downstairs or in front under the shelter… ha, ha, ha. Tickets sorted for the 6 of us, Earphones plugged in for the cities history (which we all found very interesting) and ready to go….

When you drive in a car you don’t notice the crystals hanging from every street lamp down Long Street! I wonder how long they will stay hanging there?

We stop at Kirstenchosch Gardens, but don’t get off. Instead we carried on till we get to the World of Birds in Hout Bay.

World of Birds is the largest bird park in Africa and one of the few large bird parks in the World. Over 3 000 birds (and small animals) of 400 different species are uniquely presented in more than 100 spacious landscaped walk through aviaries, allowing you the most intimate closeness with nature.”

When we arrived we 1st bought some hot chocolate and coffee to warm us up and I fed the boys with the sandwiches and fruit I had packed in for them as they are always hungry 🙂  and it ends up costing a fortune to buy food and snacks at every stop when you have growing kids. Clever Granny hey… LOL

My daughter spotted the “Secret Garden” that’s filled with the most beautiful Bromelia’s… And of course we all wanted to visit the “Monkey Jungle” full of Squirrel Monkey’s. We spent about 2 hours at the World Of Birds, but if time was on our side we would have spent much longer here as there is so much to see and so many little paths to take. 🙂

The bus comes around every 20 minutes so we only waited about 5 minutes and headed off in the direction of Hout Bay harbour where my eldest daughter and her partner decided to get off, while the rest of us carried on to the Aquarium.

We love the Two Oceans Aquarium so enjoyed walking around the fish tanks and interacting where we could.

City Sightseeing tour (2)And what do you think Kids want after a full day of Adventure? Yes of course, Ice-Cream from the Food Court at the  Cape Town Waterfront 🙂

A GREAT DAY had by ALL of US!!
