I was treated to a day and night stay at Mofam River Lodge situated on the banks of the slow flowing Palmiet River in the Elgin Valley as a Birthday gift from my friend. We had lots of fun quad biking, Labyrinth walking, hiking, drinking wine, eating good food and best of all laughing till our tummies hurt. I consider myself very blessed to have such a special friend.
As it only takes about an hour and a bit from home we arrived early on Saturday morning and were lucky to have really great weather considering all the rain we have had the past week. Really a beautiful place for a weekend or mid-week escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.
We booked in, put our luggage down in our cozy little room and started off with a scenic quid bike ride through the farm with great views over the valley and river.
After lunch we headed up to the Labyrinth for a walk and to have some magic fun 🙂
Time to walk off the food and bubblies… We did a short walk along the river for about an hour.
Back at the Lodge we did a quick wine tasting, bought a bottle of wine and watched the beautiful sunset on the Palmiet River then had a lovely dinner.
During the night the wind had come up with quite a force. Not a nice day to stick around. So we had our breakfast and took a slow drive back to Cape Town. We did have a great Saturday filled with fun, so not at all worried about the change in weather. Mofam River Lodge is not only beautiful with lots of fun activities but has really helpful and friendly staff.
A few months later, I went back to Mofam, but they had new management and she was sadly not at all friendly. We actually found her to be rather rude and abrupt. 😦 Let’s hope she was just having a bad weekend…
