I was privileged to be invited to the Elgin Cool Wine and Country Festival by Younique Concepts to attend the festival and it turned out to be a day of good wine, a lovely picnic style meal with great fun and lots of laughter with my husband (as designated driver) and my cousin from Johannesburg ~ Elegantly Elgin Wine Farms in the Elgin Valley.
Our 1st stop was at the Peregrin Farmstall (off the N2 on the way to Hermanus) to collect our entry tickets for the festival and the ticket to all the wine farms to do wine tasting was a lovely wine glass. There were just too many wine farms on the map so we selected the ones we thought sounded good.
The 2nd stop was at the Charles Fox for some bubbly tasting. Very elegant with a stunning view from the balcony. We had a very interesting tour of how they make sparkling wine by Mr. Charles Fox himself.
Our 3rd wine tasting stop was at the Paul Wallace Wines to taste the Paul Wallace Black Dog Malbec & Little Flirt Sauvignon Blanc, which of course I could not resits and just had to buy for a friend.
Our 4th stop was most defiantly my favorite stop as far as fun and settings go. The Winters Drift Wines stop is at an old railway station with lots of old props and has a really wonderful Winters Drift Chardonnay 2013 My cousin found the dress up room and we just had to have some fun…
Our final stop as, we were sadly running out of time, was at the Elgin Vintners and it was by far the busiest stop. It was lovely to see so many babies and kids with their parents at a wine farm. They really tried to make it a family venue with live music for all, Tractor rides & jumping castles and lots of place to run around for the kids.
I could not resist taking this photo of these 2 ladies having a chat in the Elgin Vintners lounge window.
I am so blessed to live in Cape Town and surrounded with such great wine farms 🙂
