A hike up Vlakkenberg Ridge from the parking area located at the end of Price Drive, (located next to Groot Constantia Vineyards). The hike, whilst pretty steep, takes you up Vlakkenberg peak to the summit with spectacular views over Hout Bay, Tokai Forest, Table Mountain, Groot Constantia and Klein Constantia Vineyards.
One of the highlights of the walk, was walking through the dense Silver Tree Forest and a lot of the Indigenous trees with labels. “The trees are attributable to Alf Morris who apparently laboured on these slopes, along with a team of volunteers, to clear a huge amount of alien vegetation, which he replaced as much as possible with indigenous varieties, some of which are labelled”
A very hot day to do a hike in Cape Town… 29’C! But if you are looking for a short hike and not too difficult then this is perfect.
